America, Haven't You Been Duped Enough?

"The Horse Sense Blog compares the nonsense in today's news with good ol' fashioned horse sense." Here's the Nonsense:  Every so often the Republicans don't do what we may want, but overall they're fighting for America and doing what the voters want. Here's the Horse Sense:  The Republicans have forsaken the American voters and no longer deserve grace or second chances. It's now or never to save America.

We've heard it all before. The GOP leadership says they are doing what's best for America while they side with Obama to make sure his agenda continues. With the majority of Americans having sent message after message that they want Obama stopped, and the GOP leadership having promised over and over that they will do it, we continually see them violate those promises and kick the voters in the teeth. Then, to add salt to the wound, they punish Republican politicians who actually listen to their constituents and stand up against GOP leadership's sellout. GOP leadership punish them to show them that they must behave the way the leadership demands or they will pay the consequences. Aren't you tired of constantly being duped by these people? How many times have Republican voters fallen for the GOP's promises and how many times have they not followed through just since the 2014 midterm elections? The fact is that they've been lying to voters for not just months and not just during the years of this administration, but for decades (remember when they sided with the Democrats to protect Bill Clinton in his perjury trial?). For longer than we'd like to admit, the GOP establishment that controls the Republican Party has sided with the Democrats in their efforts to:
  • Create bigger government;
  • Eliminate freedoms for Americans; and
  • Run this country as though the Washington politicians are the elite ruling class and we're the peasants who serve them
We're only now starting to notice because the gap between what American voters want and what we're getting is even more obvious with Obama's continual flaunting of his lawlessness and expansion of government. In what's become a common theme, the GOP has moved to give Obama even more unlimited and unchecked power by advancing the ObamaTrade legislation. Ironically, it's the Republicans who have given this to Obama while Democrats stood against the president. And Republicans who stood against the president and GOP leadership are, once again, being punished for taking a stand. There is a civil war in the Republican Party and the heart and soul of the party is at stake. At this point what is most likely going to happen is that the party will continue to be splintered to the point that it will assure victory for Democrats in the 2016 presidential, House, and Senate races and give them power over our entire government. The latest example, the sellout on ObamaTrade, even got some people we felt we could trust to turn against us and support it. An example is Ted Cruz who, prior to the ObamaTrade fiasco, was the candidate I liked best for the 2016 presidential race. But when he chose to vote for it he lost me. I will, however, give him credit that he has changed his position and no longer supports it as he explains in this article he wrote for Breitbart. However, his change of position has not caused me to choose to support him again for 2016 at this point. My reason is because of what he wrote in his article. He said he trusted Mitch McConnell's word to him about the trade deal, but later learned that he was wrong. I appreciate someone being willing to admit a mistake, but I have to say that this was a total lack of judgment on Cruz's part. Ted Cruz is a very intelligent man, but his youth showed through when he chose to accept McConnell's word after seeing how many times McConnell has lied in the past. He should never have trusted McConnell. Republican voters have been foolish in the amount of trust they've extended to our elected representatives and senators. And now we're paying the price for that foolishness. It's time to take names, keep records on what they do, and replace anyone who doesn't keep their promises. By that I mean we need to keep a record of each person who goes against the desires of the American people. And keeping records should include more than just their voting records. For example, we shouldn't forget Mitch McConnell and John Boehner's promise to crush the conservative movement. That isn't in any voting record, but is more than just a reason for concern, it's a reason for throwing them out of office. And it's not just people like Boehner and McConnell. It needs to be everybody. Last week Jason Chaffetz, someone who was thought to be a fairly solid conservative, joined Boehner's revenge team when he stripped NC Rep. Mark Meadows of his subcommittee chairmanship as retribution for not voting to support the leadership's position. That is not acceptable. Rep. Meadows should have the freedom to represent his constituents and not be punished for it. But it seems even Mr. Chaffetz has decided that people must follow orders or else. Mr. Chaffetz should pay dearly for this action. The only way these politicians will get the message that they are working for the people, not ruling over them, is to have harsh consequences for ANY who step away from service to the people. It won't take too many being voted out in the next election for all of them to get the message, especially if we show no favoritism or special treatment to those who claim to be conservative. If they know we mean business no matter who it is, they will get our message. But this means we must hold people accountable. It's one thing for a Ted Cruz to make the mistake he did and realize it and change his position. It's an entirely different thing when a politician steps out of line then says they have learned their lesson, but shortly thereafter they admit that their position hasn't changed and what they learned was that for things the American voters don't want they have to pass it in pieces so that they can slip it through. That's unacceptable and must not be tolerated (and if you've been reading my writing for any period of time you'll know that the example I just used is exactly what Marco Rubio has done on amnesty for illegal immigrants). People like this are no more trustworthy than the GOP leadership. I've warned time and time again about the GOP Establishment, even as recently as a few months ago when I asked if people had lost count how many times the GOP has stabbed us in the back. We all know the old saying that says "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me." But I'd like to add this: Fool us as many times as the GOP has, and they've proved we're dupes. (In case you don't know, a dupe is someone who is easily deceived or fooled.) Your freedom is in jeopardy. The 2016 election is the last chance we have to bring this country back under control of the citizens. If we don't succeed, not only you, but your children, grandchildren and generations thereafter will suffer beyond what you can imagine. This will all be determined in the primaries, not the general election, because that's when we can choose who will be our candidates. Get involved and do it right away. The future depends on it.
